David Herbick has worked as a magazine art director and design consultant for more than 25 years. Prior to starting his own business in 1999, he held numerous staff positions; Art Director at Civilization and PC Magazine, Senior Art Director at Newsweek, and Graphics Director at Business Week.

Herbick has received awards from
The Society of Publication Designers, The Art Directors Club (NY) and Graphic Design USA. Foreign Policy and Civilization, two magazines
that he designed, won the National Magazine Award for General Excellence. Preservation and Technology Review, two others he designed, received nominations for the same award. Civilization appeared in the book “Magazines Inside and Out” (1997) which featured the best in magazine design.

Herbick has served as a judge for the National Magazine Awards, the Ozzie Awards, the Excel Awards, the Society of Illustrators Annual, and  the Society of Publication Designers Awards.

Maggie Gamboa has been in the design business for over 20 years. She worked on staff at France Magazine, Civilization, and Preservation and was a designer at EVD Advertising and Parks, Inc. In addition, Maggie has extensive experience in printing having worked as head of prepress quality control at Stephenson Printing. She has also worked as a photo editor at Woodfin Camp, a stock photo agency. She joined Herbick Design in 2004.
